Running, Jogging & Walking Programs

Running programs are design to bring the best possible results in the shortest available time. Whether you are an advanced athlete or a beginner, fast or slow, you’ll be placed in a group that’s right for you.  Nobody gets left behind.

The Training Schedule.  Groups meet three times a week for workouts (two weeknight workouts and one morning workout on the weekend).  Typically, weeknight workouts begin with stretching at 5:30 or 5:45 p.m. and weekend workouts begin at 6:30 or 7 a.m.

5K and 10K Speed Training |
December 17, 2016 – February 20, 2017

This 9-week program is designed to teach the game of competitive racing, focusing on three relatively short races, (culminating with the Great Aloha Run) that give us the opportunity to practice and enjoy the up-tempo skills of training and racing.

Two locations: Downtown Honolulu and Central Oahu, with workouts on Monday & Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., and Saturday at 7:00 a.m.

Join the training in December, get in shape with moderate workouts, and learn the BC Interval Training System before picking up the pace in early January, 2017. Late-comers returning from the holidays are welcome to join in January.

Cost for the 9-week program, including three workouts per week, is a flat rate of $95 for new-comers and $75 for returnees, and $55 for students and retirees.

Hapalua Half-Marathon Training | February 22 – April 9, 2017

This 7-week program is designed to build on the 5K 10K Speed Training by applying the same BC training, visualization, and racing tactics to the half-marathon racing distance.

Two locations: Downtown Honolulu and Central Oahu, with workouts on Monday & Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., and Saturday at 7:00 a.m.

Join the training after the Great Aloha Run and get in shape for one of Hawaii’s premier racing events on a classic half-marathon course through Waikiki and around Diamond Head.

There is no information meeting for this training. Summer Jogging Program |
April 10 – July 23, 2017

A 16-week program at two locations: Downtown Honolulu and Central Oahu, with workouts on Monday and Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. (in Town) and 5:30 p.m. (Central), and Saturday at 7:00 a.m.

Enjoy post-workout meals with your buddies. Build a base of stamina in anticipation of the Honolulu Marathon Training, which begins in early August.

The 16-week program costs a flat-rate $125 for new-comers and $95 for returnees. There is no information meeting for this training. Simply come to the first three complementary workouts for an introduction and orientation to the training.

Oahu Trail Training |
April 10 – July 2, 2017

Discover the beauty and challenge of running in the forests of the Koolau and Waianae mountains of Oahu.  This training will build a great base of long runs and hills for the marathon training that begins in early August.

The program is designed to prepare athletes of all levels for a series of three low-key, fun-run trail races. We begin on Monday, April 10, with workouts on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 7:00 a.m. We meet on the weeknights in Downtown Honolulu above Makiki, and at various locations in the mountains around Oahu on Saturdays. We guarantee that you will see areas of Oahu you have never seen before.

Cost for full participation in the 12-week program, including three workouts per week, is $195. The twice-a-week rate is $165 and the once-a-week rate is $135. Students and retirees pay $115.

Sunday Trails for Hikers |
October 9 – December 4, 2016

Explore the scenic East Koolau ridge trails between the Makapuu Light House in East Oahu and Waahila Ridge above Saint Louis Heights. In the process, you’ll gradually build the strength to tackle the highest peaks in the Koolaus.

Workouts require a basic entry fitness level. Initially, you should be able to walk for 90-minutes on steep, rugged trails. This training is for active people who dare to enjoy the breathtaking vistas of Honolulu and the Windward side of Oahu from unbelievably exhilarating perspectives.

The program begins in mid-October and continues through early December, with eight 2-to-4-hour hikes on Sunday mornings starting at 7:30 a.m. Do the program for a flat rate of $75. Drop in for $15. per session.

Honolulu Marathon Training |
August 1 – December 10, 2017

This 19-week training accommodates runners, joggers and walkers training for the Honolulu Marathon.

We meet in two locations: Downtown Honolulu (near UH Manoa) and Central (Waipio/Mililani/Pearl City), with all workouts on Monday and Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., and Saturday at 6:30 a.m.

Different groups at each location accommodate ability levels between three and eight hours for the marathon. One of these groups will be right for you. Nobody gets left behind.

Workouts include long weekend runs, with hills and tempo runs during the week. Two practice races are scheduled during the training so you can learn the discipline of carbohydrate loading, pacing, hydration, and nutrition before attempting the Honolulu Marathon.

Come to the free information meeting on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Church of the Crossroads, 1212 University Avenue from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.

Tuition. Newcomers pay a flat rate of $265 (installments okay) and returnees pay a flat $215. Students and retirees pay $165.
