How to Enroll (and Why)

First and Foremost

Talent is not a prerequisite for enrolling in BC Endurance programs.  Our athletes are recreational runners, joggers, and walkers.  Beginners learn from advanced athletes, so we can all enjoy sustainable, life-long fitness training.

Are you fast enough?  Since you’ll train in a group of your ability, there’s no need to worry about keeping up with faster athletes. You can focus on a pace that’s right for you, while our experienced program leaders guide you through the workouts. We have a team-oriented approach to training: Nobody gets left behind.

The training works. We’ve stayed in business for more than 45 years because we teach our athletes exactly how much effort is enough for injury-free training and improved performance. Workouts are structured to build specific abilities by the rules of right exertion. Regardless of your ability, you’ll find pleasure in increased life-energy, improved health and fitness, and greater confidence in your ability.

So, if you’re serious about life-long health and fitness, we’re serious about supporting you on your journey!  Thus, the time and money you spend on BC Endurance programs becomes an investment in your future well-being.

Can You Identify Your Fitness Profile?

All of us are on the road to life-long health and fitness.  So, take a look at these five fitness profiles and see about identifying yourself as a recreational fitness athlete in our BC Endurance community.

Do You Enjoy Fitness Training?

Your inner athlete can be revealed through the annual BC Endurance training and education program. We teach recreational athletes to enjoy fitness training by appreciating the play of it.

The Enrollment Process

While our full enrollment process takes time, all you need to get started is to complete step #1 below. We’ll contact and support you through the remaining steps.

l

1. Get the Ball Rolling

Please complete this form so we have your contact information and can follow up with you. Or you can proceed directly through the next four steps to full enrollment.

2. Engage With Us

Fill out our Pre-Program Questionnaire so we know what sort of shape you’re in. And so we can focus on how to best help you achieve your fitness goals.

3. Pay Tuition

Paying a $60 deposit is the fastest way to membership.  Full payment is a fee of $60 per month, which is discounted when applied to 3, 6 or 12 months.  Please see our payments page.

4. Get Your Credentials

With payment, you’ll be given access to our online members-only content, including weekly announcements, workout details, educational materials, and more.

5. Attend an Orientation

With membership you can attend six vital orientation workouts.  You’ll meet your training buddies, become familiar with our supportive culture, and learn how to do our workouts.

The final step to full enrollment is when you commit to train with us for the foreseeable future. Two weeks of orientation is enough to understand that commitment comes with an investment in time, effort and money. We think you’ll be pleased with the results. But if you are unable to continue, your tuition will be refunded.

I think the program is best designed for people who want to be lifelong athletes. It’s not about the race, it’s about overall fitness. Your goal should really be living at your optimal fitness level at all times, rather than trying to reach only one racing objective. And that’s what I found when training with Brian.

Lisa Wong

Brian explains to us that when we run a race, we’re going to make a time, and that time tells us where we’re at with our fitness level. It’s just a gauge. We can then decide if we want to be faster or slower than that. I don’t have a beach body but I have sustainability, mobility and balance. I’m building strength, I’m healing.

Kelley Peregoy

Brian is really capturing that holistic mind-body connection, where it’s more than just the physical aspect of running. The emphasis here is on safety and sustainability, and really finding that joy with running. The people who stick with Brian’s program are usually looking for a more well-rounded experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

  •  Do I have to be "in shape" to join?

No. We know how to assess your condition and sart you at an appropriate training level.  If you're willing to start with workouts that seem too short and slow, you'll progress rapidly without injury or undue fatigue.

  • Should I consult my doctor before starting?

Yes, especially if you are already under a doctor's care for any chronic health issue. The main thing is to do nothing that will cause you pain or discomfort, nothing that isn't enjoyable and sustainable. It's our job to teach you how to train safely and effectively; it's your job to attend three workouts a week and train as instructed.

  • If I don't see results, can I get my money back?

If you are not entirely satisfied with the program, we’ll refund your money in full, upon request, and without question. Then all you will have spent is time, the value of which will be returned to you as experience and knowledge.

  • What is included in the membership fee?

The membership fee gains you access to three professionally facilitated group workouts per week at a variety of convenient locations across O‘ahu. If you miss an evening workout, you can "make-up" the workout on your own, while you listen to a recording of the facilitator as he/she instructed our athletes during the missed workout.

You will also gain access to exclusive members-only content on our website, including educational course material on a wide range of fitness-related topics.  A special perk of the BC Endurance community is our frequent "trademark" potluck meals.  Most important: you'll also gain valuable community support for becoming fit for life.

  • What if I don't have enough time for three workouts per week?

Another way to ask the question is: How much time are you willing to invest in a program that proves necessary for your health and fitness, and without which you are likely to perform less-than optimally in your career and family?

Maybe you’re so over-committed it’s hard to imagine taking on anything new.  If it’s a matter of priorities, would this program fit at a minimal, yet still valuable, level?  Or would you continue without the program, training on a catch-as-catch-can basis that could be jeapardizing your long-term health and fitness?

If your goal is to be fit and healthy, you must sustain several regular weekly workouts.  That makes a wash of your fitness-related time commitment, as you must train whether it's with us or not. Or maybe you feel justified kicking back after a long and tiring work day/week.

So, please consider all the activities you currently spend time on.  Which of those activities could you do without?  Would you be willing to prune some of the low-priority activities so you have time to invest in a program that enables your goal of a longer, healthier and more active life?

  • Do I need any special equipment?

Good running or walking shoes are a must have.  Here is a link to a primer on getting shoes.

A bluetooth enabled cell phone to participate fully in coach-facilitated workouts on Zoom Audio.

A bright flashlight for training in poorly lit areas.

A fanny pack for carrying stuff.

Warm clothes you can layer if the weather turns blustery. And a hat.
